Project Phases

  • Year 1: Baseline survey, farmer mobilization, training on climate-smart agriculture and livestock management, irrigation infrastructure development, input support
  • Year 2: Expansion of improved agriculture and livestock practices, collective marketing, financial linkage facilitation, mid-term evaluation
  • Year 3: Consolidation of interventions, market integration, income enhancement activities, endline assessment and documentation of learning

Objectives

  • Improve livelihoods of 1,500 small and marginal farmer households in Gumla district
  • Increase agricultural productivity through climate-smart and diversified farming practices
  • Enhance access to irrigation and quality agricultural inputs
  • Improve goat and backyard poultry (BYP) rearing practices to reduce mortality and increase income
  • Strengthen producer groups, aggregation centres, and market linkages for better price realisation
  • Facilitate access to credit, financial services, and enterprise development opportunities
  • Promote sustainable livelihood systems that reduce distress migration and strengthen household resilience

Expected Outcomes

  • 70% of beneficiary households achieve an additional annual income of approximately ₹20,000–₹40,000
  • Agricultural yields increase by 25–30% through adoption of improved farming practices
  • Around 1,000 households adopt improved agriculture, livestock, and collective marketing practices
  • Irrigation facilities developed for approximately 400 households, enabling multi-season cultivation
  • Goat and BYP mortality reduced from approximately 45% to 25%
  • Improved market access and collective marketing for better price realisation
  • Enhanced financial inclusion through increased access to credit and institutional linkages
  • Reduced distress migration due to improved and diversified local livelihood opportunities
